How to Create a Guideline

Updated over 2 weeks ago

This guide walks through creating a Guideline from scratch, generating images from it, and managing it over time.

Step 1: Create a New Guideline

  1. Go to My Guidelines in the left sidebar

  2. Click + Create Guideline

  3. Choose Start from Scratch to build a new Guideline, or Clone from Existing to duplicate one you've already created and modify it

Tip: If you have a Guideline that's close to what you need, cloning is faster than starting fresh. Rename it and adjust only the settings that differ.

Step 2: Choose Your Guideline Type

At the top of the form, toggle between Product and Banner:

  • Product — for generating on-model images, videos, ghost mannequin, hanger rack, and A+ content

  • Banner — for campaign creatives and marketing banners

The configuration sections that appear depend on which type you select.

Step 3: Configure Setup

The Setup section has two parts — Model & Dimensions and Styling & Rules.

Model & Dimensions

Model References — define which model to use. You have three input methods:

  • Presets — pick from the standard library of 95+ models

  • Media — upload reference photos of a model

  • Text Instruction — describe the model (e.g., "South Asian woman, early 30s, athletic build")

You can also click Use your models to select a custom model you've previously created in the Models section.

Dimensions — select the output aspect ratio for this Guideline:

Ratio

Styling & Rules

Styling Accessories — define the props and accessories that should appear in every generation. Choose from 29+ presets, upload reference media, or describe via text instruction.

Do's — things to consistently include or emphasise (e.g., "always show full-length body", "warm golden tones")

Don'ts — things to consistently avoid (e.g., "no visible seams", "avoid busy backgrounds")

Step 4: Configure Output Types

In the left sidebar under Output Types, enable and configure the types of content this Guideline will generate.

Images

Poses and Framing — define the pose, angle, and framing for every image. Choose from 291+ pose presets, upload reference images, or describe via text (e.g., "centered full-length shot, relaxed stance").

Aesthetics and Background — define the visual aesthetic and background environment. Choose from 295+ background presets, upload references, or describe via text (e.g., "minimalist white studio, soft shadows").

Other output types

Enable Videos, A+ Content Images, Hanger Rack Images, or Floor Display Images if you want this Guideline to support those content types. Each has its own configuration settings.

Step 5: Name and Save

Give your Guideline a clear, descriptive name before saving — something that tells your team exactly what it produces at a glance.

Good examples: "Summer25_OutdoorCafe_Priya_FullBody", "AW25_StudioWhite_Catalog", "EditorialReels_Riya_Seated"

Click Save and Process. Your Guideline will appear in the Custom tab of the My Guidelines page, immediately available for generation.

Generating Images from a Guideline

Once your Guideline is saved, using it is a single-step process:

  1. From the Home screen, click Create Images under Create from a Guideline

  2. Select your Guideline

  3. Upload your product (via URL, device upload, or My Styles)

  4. Click Generate

The entire creation flow collapses to just the product upload. The Guideline handles model, pose, background, and all other settings automatically.

Managing Your Guidelines

Editing — open any Custom Guideline and click Edit. Changes apply to future generations only; images already generated are unaffected.

Archiving — click the three-dot menu on a Guideline card and select Archive. The Guideline moves to the Archived tab and is removed from the active creation flow. You can unarchive at any time.

Cloning — from the three-dot menu, select Duplicate to create a copy you can modify independently.
