Video Stories help your brand stand out. They showcase products in motion, highlight new drops, and deliver fast, high-impact visuals customers already love. This guide explains how to access the Stories widget, add videos, and use short-form storytelling to boost engagement and conversions.

Use Cases

Showcasing a new skincare routine

Imagine you’re promoting a three-step skincare routine. Stories let you break the process into clear, swipeable clips: cleanser, serum, moisturiser. Each step feels natural and digestible, showing texture, application, and results in sequence. This helps customers understand the routine visually and makes the product set feel easy and enjoyable to use.

Styling a complete outfit

If you're selling fashion pieces that work well together, Stories can show the outfit being built one item at a time. Start with the base look, then add a jacket, accessories, or shoes in each consecutive story. This step-by-step reveal helps customers see how everything pairs together and encourages them to discover multiple items in one viewing path.

Setup

1. Go to Homepage under Video Widgets in your Whatmore dashboard.

2. From the Trending Widgets list, select Stories.

3. Enable Stories in your Shopify theme editor.

Ensure that all changes are saved by clicking on “Save” present on the right of the taskbar at the top of the Shopify Editor.

4. Once enabled, click Add New Story, then select Create New Story.

5. Give your story a name, then upload a thumbnail image or choose “Auto-generated” to let Whatmore create one from your video. Next, add one or more videos to build your story. You can repeat this process to create as many stories as you need.

Manage

1. Toggle between static or AI-generated dynamic thumbnails, move it up or down, and manage its status by activating, deactivating, or deleting it. These settings let you quickly adjust how the Story appears and behaves on your Homepage.

💡 Static thumbnails cycle through still frames from your videos, whereas AI- generated dynamic thumbnails use a brief motion clip to create a more engaging preview.

2. Add new videos, remove existing ones, and reorder them as needed.

Customisations on Whatmore Dashboard (Optional)

1. The look and feel of your Stories can be customised by clicking “Customize Stories.” Any changes you make will update instantly in the live preview, in both vertical and horizontal modes.

2. Edit the colour of the border and title font using a hex code, or adjust it through the saturation-brightness square and hue slider for precise control.

3. Adjust the tile size (visible in landscape mode) and fine-tune the spacing between stories to achieve the layout you prefer.

Customisations on Shopify Editor (Optional)

1. Hover over the stories and select “Whatmore Stories” to customise them. You can also choose your preferred tile shape, either Circle or Square.

2. Adjust the Stories vertical padding to control the space above and below the stories by entering any numerical value.

3. Set the Story tile size for both mobile and desktop by entering a percentage value, allowing you to scale tiles appropriately across orientations.

Finishing

Ensure that all changes are saved by clicking on “Save” present on the right of the taskbar at the top of the Shopify Editor. Your stories are now ready to be viewed on your store!
