Meta Catalog Feed — turn your videos into Meta Advantage+ catalog ad creative

Connect your Meta product catalog to Whatmore. Every tagged video automatically appears as creative on Meta Advantage+ catalog ads, Facebook Shops, and Instagram Shopping.

Meta Advantage+ campaigns systematically favor video creative over static images — brands running video on their catalog see meaningfully higher engagement and ROAS. The Meta Catalog Feed channel pushes your top-ranked Whatmore videos onto each product in your Meta catalog and keeps them current as you tag, untag, or reorder videos.

Here's what it handles for you:

  • Pushes your top-ranked Whatmore videos to each product in your Meta catalog.

  • Updates the video field automatically whenever you tag, untag, or reorder videos.

  • Lets you opt individual products out.

  • Re-syncs the whole catalog in one click.

Before you start

ℹ️ You'll need three things ready before connecting. Gather these first — the connection takes under a minute once you have them.

  • A Meta Business Manager account with a product catalog connected to Shopify via the Facebook & Instagram by Meta sales channel.

  • Your Catalog ID — find it at Meta Commerce Manager → Catalogs → your catalog → Settings → Catalog ID.

  • A System User Access Token with the catalog_management permission, generated from Meta Business Settings → Users → System Users.

💡 We use a System User token rather than OAuth on purpose: the connection never expires and never needs Meta App Review. You stay in control of the asset.

Connect your Meta catalog

  1. In your Whatmore dashboard, go to Meta Marketing → Catalog Feed.

  2. Click Connect on the channel card.

  3. The connect modal walks you through generating the token. Follow the steps, then paste in your Catalog ID and Access Token.

  4. Click Connect. We validate the token, infer your catalog's product ID format, and switch sync on.

  5. Each tagged Whatmore video pushes to its matching Meta catalog item within seconds. Watch the synced-item count climb on the channel page.

How the sync works

ℹ️ We only ever update — we never create or delete catalog items. Your Shopify FB/IG sales channel owns the items; we only touch the video field on items it already created.

  • Only the top-ranked Whatmore-tagged video per product is sent. You control the ranking in your dashboard.

  • Untagging the last video on a product clears the video field on that Meta item. The item itself stays put.

Opt individual products out

  1. Scroll to the Products table on the Meta Catalog Feed page.

  2. Flip the Meta switch off for any product. Its video disappears from Meta within seconds.

  3. Use the bulk-action buttons to hide or unhide many products at once.

Disconnect

Disconnecting removes your Whatmore videos from the Meta catalog but leaves the items themselves intact.

  1. Open the Meta Catalog Feed page.

  2. Click Disconnect. The confirm dialog shows how many items will have their video field cleared.

  3. Confirm. Within seconds, those items show empty video fields in Meta Commerce Manager.

ℹ️ The items remain — Shopify still owns them. Only our video contribution is removed.

Tips & troubleshooting

💡 System User tokens don't expire by default. The connection stays live until you disconnect or remove the catalog asset from the system user in Meta Business Settings.

⚠️ Seeing "Failed" on a few products? Click Re-sync now — most failures self-resolve on retry.

⚠️ Custom catalog items may not update. We infer the catalog ID format from what the Shopify FB/IG sales channel uses. If you manually created items with a different ID format, we don't recognize them as "ours" and won't update them.

FAQ

Will this push every video on every product? No — only the top-ranked Whatmore-tagged video per product. Reorder rankings in your dashboard to change which one is pushed.

Do I need to re-tag anything for Meta? No. Tag once in Whatmore and it syncs to every connected channel automatically.

Does Meta App Review apply here? No. The Meta System User token is generated inside your own Business Manager — Whatmore is invisible to Meta as an "app."

What if I remove the catalog asset from the system user? The token starts returning 401s. We show a "Token revoked — reconnect" banner. Generate a new token, paste it in, and you're back.
